The company focusses on documentary, commercial and feature film making, dedicated to providing fresh creative productions in the advertising sector, whilst offering clients a service to shoot music videos and internships to help broaden the spectrum for the fresh-out-of-college students who are interested in the creative world, that will assist them when seeking and applying for jobs in South Africa.
What we do for peopleIn terms of documentary and film making, people will benefit with education and awareness of issues that are faced by different communities all over the country. People will express freely with substantial story telling through the art of music and advertising, helping carve a pathway for the next generation to come. With Internships, the people will benefit by developing a professional aptitude and strengthens their beings. Uman pictures will further contribute to job creation in South Africa.

The Red PlaceUman Pictures’ director Muofhe Raphunga, investigates a family murder that happened over twenty years ago in her hometown of Hamutsha, Limpopo, South Africa. Her personal journey raises important questions about forgiveness and it's effect on her family.
Founder’s storyMuofhe RaphungaFounder/Director/Writer/Sound RecordistMuofhe was born in the surroundings of the red soil and green plantations of Limpopo Venda.She first obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Motion Pictures, Television Production and Sound Design 2012 at AFDA film institution, Johannesburg and majored in sound design. After completing her first degree, she worked on a few television productions: Die Dag Breek (kykNET), Week in One, Moneyline, Judge for yourself, Enuus, and eNCA News. As her constant mindset and desire is to evolve, she went on to complete an Honors degree in Film Theory and Practice within the Centre for Film and Media Studies at the University of Cape Town, South Africa with a focus on documentary film in 2019. As part of the honors degree, she directed her first film, The Red Place: Colors of Forgiveness for which she was responsible for concept development, directing, writing, and on set audio recording. While directing, she had to equip herself with the knowledge and understanding around a full production and skills relating to completing a full project. The highlight of her journey so far was when The Red Place got selected by Encounters South African International Documentary Film Festival and was viewed in 2020. The film will be screened in 2021 at TAFF (The African Film and Arts Festival) in America and the Berlin Lift Off Film FestivalThe idea of starting Uman Pictures was triggered by the interest of contributing human progression and love for people.
